Louis Cyr was a Québécois strongman of great renown; the tune was composed by Jean-Claude Mirandette. Les Patates Brûlées (aka Little Burnt Potato or Burnt Potato Reel) is found in Irish, Scottish and French Canadian traditions. We learned it from the playing of le Vent du Nord. Finally, there’s a squared-up-for-dancing version of the traditional tune Ryestraw, from fiddler Rhys Jones.
